“It was unfortunate. It was kind of an interaction with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a large group of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was brimming with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
Jones additionally clarified that the gesture was entirely accidental, happening amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I simply showed the wrong digit,” he remarked. “It was inadvertently done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got resolved rapidly.”
