The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Frustration Regarding Size Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.
The popular resale platform has updated its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Measurement Approach Updates
Before the change, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: earlier, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
