Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview shows the young girl â who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up â getting a latest toy, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and helping giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
